What Drives Fridge Truck Value

• Fridge hours. Like engine hours but for the fridge unit. Lower hours = higher value. Carrier Vector under 15,000 hours is solid.
• Recent fridge service. Documented service in last 12 months adds £500-£1,500.
• Tail lift fitted. Dhollandia, Anteo, Bar Cargolift — tail lifts add real value, £1,000-£2,500.
• Side door / multi-temp. Multi-temp fridge bodies for separate frozen/chilled compartments add 10-20% over single-temp.
• Body condition. Internal lining condition (cracks, mould, repairs) directly affects value — food-spec bodies need to be clean.
• Truck spec. Underlying truck (Volvo FE, Mercedes Atego, DAF LF, MAN TGM, Hino 300) affects base value.
• BFRC certification. British Frozen Food Federation refrigerated certification adds export premium.

Common Fridge Truck Faults We Still Buy

Fridge trucks accumulate specific issues. We factor these in but still buy:

• Compressor fault on fridge unit. Carrier and Thermo King compressors fail at 18,000-25,000 hours. Workshop fix is real, we factor it in.
• Door seal degradation. Common after 5+ years — small fix, doesn't kill the deal.
• Internal panel damage. Pallet truck strikes, cracked GRP panels — we assess on photos.
• Tail lift hydraulic issues. Pump leaks, slow lift, control faults — common, fixable.
• Chassis corrosion. Common on older fridge trucks where condensation drips. Factored into offer.
• Truck-side faults. EGR, AdBlue, DPF on the underlying truck — same as any HGV, we still buy.
