How To Value Your HGV Before Selling
A practical guide for fleet operators and owner-drivers.
Most trucks are either underpriced or overestimated before sale. This is what actually determines value — so you go in with a real number.
We buy: Tractor units • Tippers • Rigids • Fleet vehicles — All makes. All conditions. Running or non-running. UK-wide.
Step 1: Condition Still Matters — But It Doesn’t Stop a Deal
Condition always affects the number — but it doesn’t stop us buying.
Clean trucks achieve strong prices.
Trucks with issues are still bought every day.
DPF problems, AdBlue faults, engine issues, damage, non-runners — send photos.
We’ll give you a straight number based on what it actually is.
Step 2: What Drives Demand
Some trucks are easier to place than others — but everything has a market.
Volvo FH, Scania R/S, DAF XF and MAN units all have strong demand in the UK and export markets.
Euro 6 trucks are strongest in the current market.
Euro 5 trucks still sell — especially for export or specific work.
Spec, history and presentation help — but they don’t stop a deal.
We buy across the board. If it’s got a value, we’ll price it.
Step 3: Auction vs Direct Sale
Auction results vary depending on the day.
Fees apply whether it sells or not.
Payment takes time.
And there’s always an element of risk.
Direct sale is simple:
Price agreed upfront.
No fees.
Paid on collection.
For problem trucks, non-runners, or anything that needs a straightforward exit — direct sale is often the easier option.
Step 4: Documents You Need Ready
Have your documents ready where possible:
V5C
MOT history
Service records
Finance clearance
It speeds things up — but it doesn’t stop a deal if something is missing.
Get a Straight Offer
Send photos on WhatsApp and we’ll come back with a number.
